WICS update….
To all contractors
We are 6 weeks into the launch of our Walk In Consultation Service WICS, which we launched in partnership with Kernow CCG to help support the wider healthcare landscape in these challenging times.
The scale of this project has been bigger than anything we as an LPC have done before and we could not be prouder of what YOU the Pharmacy teams of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly have accomplished. The impact this England first service is having both locally with patients but also nationally, and it is fair to say that we could well be laying the foundations of what may be to come in the future, we hope!
It feels appropriate at this time to share with you all some of the outputs of the service;
To date we have completed almost 1,100 WICS in Cornwall
76 out of the 98 Pharmacies in Cornwall are actively delivering
We are seeing everything from skin complaints to mental health concerns
We have consulted with almost 100 children under 10 and 200 adults between 61-70
82% of patients that present to WICS have their presenting complaint dealt with fully in Pharmacy
We have saved over 900 GP appointments in Cornwall
We have helped treat 8 people who would have attended A&E
We are welcoming new Pharmacies to the service everyday so a big hello and welcome to Milbrook Pharmacy, Asda Bodmin and Boots Perranporth.

Well done to the top ten Pharmacies and you all for your hard work and commitment to the WICS service. We know how challenging things are currently and workload is high, but we continue to be impressed by your ability to understand the wider implications this service is having and could have.
We are only halfway through the project with another 6 weeks until 31st March, we have funding for 8900 more WICS, lets really have a push and see how far we can take this service!
